DANI AMENDOLA M.C. RECORD IN K'S

Dani (Danielle) Amendola has established a new Monterey County record in softball earning 936 K's (strikeouts) in her 4 years of high school. The record was held by Legendary pitcher Monica Abbott of North Salinas back in the early 2000's. Some people have speculated that Monica's record was untouchable and that the record would hold for a very long time and it did; for 22 years to be exact. Enter Dani Amendola. Her pitching career did not start as the starting pitcher her freshman year. She was behind a senior pitcher that was doing quite well for the Eagles. Due to unforeseen circumstances with the current pitcher, Dani was called into the starting position about a third of the season in. From that point on, Dani took control and never looked back. Her Freshman year, she clocked in 175 K's, Sophomore year, she cranked out 205. Junior year, she turned up the heat with 286, and her Senior year, topped off her career with 270. These numbers are unheard of in softball during high school. It is believed that her Freshman year, she could have had more if she was starting from the beginning and maybe even hit the 1,000 mark! But history is history and Dani had been one of the most humble athletes within the softball world. Her legacy will be displayed at the EAHS Trophy Case along with championships balls from other sports as historical relics to preserve and share through generations of Eagles.
